Founded in 2012, iKuria is the brain child of London-based Japanese designer, Ikuko Kurahone, who previously enjoyed career as an economic correspondent in Tokyo and London.
As a former journalist Ikuko knows how to jazz up professional (often boring) look to preserve individualism and femininity. Her pieces are subtle as you’d expect from Japanese designer and retain that famous Japanese quirkiness that a lot of contemporary jewellery seemed to forgot about. Saying this iKuria’s pieces are not only meant for the work environment – they are all year round, all day long, any occasion kinda pieces.
One of her superb collections is Laika, where most of the pieces featured on feltlondon.com belong to. The story of Laika has gripped hearts of many and it still moves new generations! Laika was the first living organism to travel to space and she paved way for other animals, and later humans to celestial exploration. The collection is a way of remembrance of this petit adorable dog, who was an important yet tragic offering in the early days of interplanetary flights.
iKuria uses only ethically obtained jewels and her jewellery is made by the skilled craftsmen, all are fine precious materials that are validated by London Assay Office.
Her pieces shine and add sparkle to your everyday basics and give confidence to the wearer (as she calls them “vitamin jewellery”) so no wonder they are now adored by women from various age groups and backgrounds. Should we add her jewellery is always loved by our loyal customers at our Chelsea shop?
Ikuko was a finalist in the UK Jewellery Awards’ New Designer of the Year category in 2013 and its popularity is growing every year in the UK, Japan and the USA.
